Share Our Strength Launches Dine Out For No Kid Hungry
Share Our Strength, the national non-profit geared toward feeding hungry U.S. citizens, announced the launch of Dine Out For No Kid Hungry (formerly the Great American Dine Out), which will take place in September 2011. The organization hopes to get 5,000 restaurants and other foodservice operators on board this year, with a larger goal to eliminate child hunger by 2015. Despite ongoing issues with childhood obesity, many children still go hungry, Share Our Strength has said. Nearly 17 million kids in the U.S. (nearly 1 in 4) face hunger every day. Share Our Strength, funds a variety of programs, including food banks and after school feeding programs.
Restaurants participating in the Dine Out program raise money for the cause through a variety of promotions, customer challenges, bounce back coupons and other fundraising strategies. Interested restaurants in any segment can participate in the program by visiting www.dineout.strength.org. Participants receive access to downloadable marketing material, publicity templates and other resources geared toward assisting with fundraising.
